Rolled Sugar Cookies

DIRECTIONS:

1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Beat softened butter and sugar together with mixer on high speed until smooth and creamy.

2. Add egg and vanilla, beat until smooth

3. Add salt and baking powder, mix at low speed

4. Gradually add flour, scraping sides and blending thoroughly after each addition until all is thoroughly mixed in.

5.  Roll dough in a ball, wrap in wax paper and put in refrigerator.  Chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.

6.  Roll on floured or non-stick surface - roll thicker for softer cookies, thinner for crisp ones.  Cut out shapes with cookie cutters.

7.  Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.

8. Cool on wire rack, then decorate with buttercream frosting, colored sugars, sprinkles, etc.  Or . . .
