  Chocolate Cherry Cake
1 Packaged chocolate cake mix
1 Can cherry pie filling
1 Tsp. almond extract
2 eggs

Frosting:
1 Cup sugar
5 Tbsp. butter
1/3 Cup milk
1 Cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
Mix cake mix, cherry pie filling, eggs and almond extract until moistened -- use a spoon, not a mixer.  Spread in greased, 9x13" pan * and bake 25-30 minutes.

To make frosting, combine sugar, butter and milk in a 2-qt. saucepan and bring to a boil.  Boil only 1 minute, then stir in chocoate chips until melted and well blended with sugar/butter/milk mixture. Pour frosting over warm cake, cool, then enjoy!

* Make a heart-shaped cake:  Instead of a 9x13 pan, pour half the batter into a greased 8x8 or 9x9 square baking pan, and the other half into a greased, 8x8 or 9x9 round pan.  Bake 20-30 minutes until done through.  Remove pans from oven, cool twenty minutes.  Invert square layer onto a large platter or tray on the diagonal, so it makes a "diamond" shape. Invert the round layer on a paper plate.  Cut the round layer i half.  Slide half off the paper plate, aligning it with the top, left side of the "diamond", and the other half with the top, right side to form a heart.  Pour frosting over the cake.  Garnish with cherries, candy hearts or other decorations.
